Melania visited a border guard detention centre in McAllen on the border with Mexico, where about sixty children of migrants between the ages of five and 17 are stuck in anticipation of settling charges against their parents.
“She desired to see with her own eyes how things are going”, her spokeswoman said to reporters. “The images have touched her as a mother and as a person.”
The involvement that America’s first lady showed with people who have to deal with the hard approach of the immigration service is in stark contrast to the actions of her husband.
