Bitcoin Continues Record Rise, Now Also Worth 106,000 Dollars
Bitcoin continues its record rise this year, rising above 106,000 dollars for the first time on Monday. Earlier this month, Bitcoin was worth more than 100,000 dollars for the first time.
The world’s most famous crypto coin continues to benefit from Donald Trump’s victory in the American presidential elections. Trump is an outspoken advocate of digital currencies and has said that the United States should create a kind of strategic stockpile of cryptos.
Bitcoin reached around 106,500 dollars in Singapore, after which the price dropped somewhat. Since the beginning of this year, the value of Bitcoin has almost doubled. Trump told business channel CNBC last week that he has plans for a strategic reserve of cryptocurrencies comparable to the strategic oil reserves of the US. He had previously stated that the US should become the “crypto capital” of the world.
Sentiment around digital currencies is also supported by including the significant crypto investor MicroStrategy in the technology benchmark Nasdaq 100. That software company will be listed in that index starting the following Monday. The stock price of MicroStrategy has increased more than sixfold this year.
