Ankara: Ukraine and Russia Would Like to Continue Talks in Turkey

Despite the mutual accusations of atrocities in a Kyiv suburb, Bucha, Ukraine and Russia are still eager to continue their dialogue in Turkey. This is what an anonymous top Turkish official said.

He said the two belligerents are still far from an agreement, but they both want to resume direct talks in Turkey.

Since the Russian attack on Ukraine began on February 24, Ukrainian and Russian delegations have been in regular contact to discuss conditions for the cessation of hostilities. The first talks were already held on February 28 in southeastern Belarus.

After a few difficultly organized sessions in Belarus, the consultation continued digitally. That still continues.

Turkey has acted as a mediator. The Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers met earlier in Antalya, southern Turkey. And at the end of March, there was again direct contact between the delegations of both countries in Istanbul.
