The United States accuses Iran of arming the Yemeni Houthi rebels. This violates Tehran’s UN resolutions, said US UN ambassador Nikki Haley. She showed, among other things, a supposed Iranian projectile that the Houthis would have fired at Saudi Arabia.
“It was produced in Iran and sent to Houthi fighters in Yemen,” said Haley with rock-traces in the background. “After that, it was fired at a civilian airport, and it could have killed hundreds of civilians in Saudi Arabia.”
The Iranian UN delegation spoke about ‘fabricated’ evidence that should divert attention from ‘Saudi war crimes in Yemen, to which the US is complicit.’
The Americans also presented other equipment that had to prove their position, such as an alleged Iranian drone and an anti-tank weapon. Saudi Arabia has delivered all salvaged weapons and the United Arab Emirates, said the Pentagon. A coalition led by the Saudis has been fighting the Houthis for about two years.
