UN Refugee Commissioner Tests Positive for Covid-19
Filippo Grandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.
Grandi has led the annual meeting on refugees in Geneva for the past two days.
Grandi will continue to follow the UNHCR meeting digitally from home. For the past two days, he spoke to the delegations present from the platform in the UN Assembly Hall.
The meeting of the UNHCR will be held online for the first time this year due to the coronavirus.
Only a few persons were allowed to physically attend the meeting under strict measures, including the commissioner. Grandi says he only has mild symptoms and hopes to recover soon.
