Uganda’s Deputy Minister for Work and Industrial Relations, Charles Okello Engola, was shot dead by his own bodyguard on Tuesday. The police report this.
The motive for the murder is not yet clear.
The bodyguard is said to have fired several shots at Engola as he left home, in the north of the capital Kampala, police spokesman Fred Enanga said.
The ministers died instantly. The suspected perpetrator fled and shot himself in a hair salon.
Members of the government and other senior figures are rarely killed in Uganda.
