Hackers managed to gain control of 45 Twitter accounts on Wednesday evening, including those of many famous people.
In total, they attacked 130 accounts and received over $ 100,000 in crypto coins as ransoms. Twitter reports the first results of its own research into the megahack today.
The hackers have digitally attacked some employees of the social media company and thus invaded Twitter’s internal system.
The considerable hack has been stirring things up in recent days. The accounts of billionaire Bill Gates and former US President Barack Obama, among others, were hacked, as was the profile of Tesla boss Elon Musk.
The same was true for the accounts of, for example, Geert Wilders, Michael Bloomberg, Kanye West, presidential candidate Joe Biden, Uber and Apple.
According to Twitter, hackers attacked a total of 130 accounts. About 45 they managed to gain control. The passwords were reset, and tweets and retweets were thrown out on behalf of those accounts.
For example, in the account of Geert Wilders in the night from Wednesday to Thursday, the profile picture was changed into a caricature of a black man.
The banner of the account was replaced by a Moroccan flag, and several posts were retweeted, including conspiracy theories.
