Turkish President Erdogan will speak with his Russian counterpart Putin on Sunday about the war in Ukraine. However, according to an Erdogan spokesman, Turkey still wants to mediate between Ukraine and Russia.

For his part, the European Union’s foreign affairs chief, Josep Borrell, hopes that China will make an effort to mediate. He said that “obviously” Europe and the US cannot mediate in the conflict. However, Borrell is confident that China can.
