Shortly before 6:30 a.m. (local time), The Trump Organization’s Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg reported to the New York State Attorney’s Office.
He and The Trump Organization are preparing to face charges in connection with a tax investigation, insiders said.
The exact charge has not yet been released, The New York Times reports. These are the first charges against former US President Donald Trump’s company since prosecutors opened an investigation into possible crimes at The Trump Organization three years ago.
The Washington Post reported citing sources that the American company and Wisselberg are prosecuting for tax evasion.
Trump has always denied that financial abuses occur within his company and call the investigation politically motivated. As far as is known, the former president himself is not being prosecuted.
