Trump Congratulates Erdogan Referendum Victory. US President Donald Trump phoned to congratulate Tayyip Erdogan on the success of Turkish counterpart Sunday’s referendum.
By a narrow majority of yes-voters in the referendum to be passed a constitutional amendment that gives the president of Turkey great power.
The White House would not comment on the course of events prior to and during the referendum.
“An international commission looking at and will report its findings in ten to twelve days. We’ll wait and let the members do their job, ” said spokesman Sean Spicer.
There is much criticism of the Turkish referendum, among other irregularities. The Dutch Minister Koenders of Foreign Affairs has expressed its concern because the power is going to concentrate on one person.
