Sydney: Thousands without Power due to Severe Weather Storm. In large parts of Sydney, in the Australian state of New South Wales, the electricity has failed due to severe weather.
That was accompanied by hailstones as big as golf balls, storm and abundant rainfall.
According to the newspaper Sydney Morning Herald, more than 110,000 households and businesses are currently without electricity.
The train traffic was severely disrupted by, for example, lightning and fallen trees. The thunderstorm was the conclusion of a drenched week in Sydney, where the residents had to deal with traffic chaos and the constant failure of flights.
The north of the state of Queensland is still waiting by the tropical cyclone Owen, which heads east to the region south of Cairns. The population has been warned about flooding.
