Seven Million Britons on Waiting List for Routine Surgeries

Britain’s waiting list for routine surgeries has set a new record with seven million patients. This is evident from figures from the British national health service NHS on Thursday.

However, according to the British public broadcaster BBC, there is not necessarily more demand, but hospitals are still not running at full capacity after the corona pandemic.

In August, there were seven million people in the queue, about 200,000 more than the month before. In addition, nearly 390,000 patients have been waiting for more than a year. As a result, hospitals would perform 12 percent fewer surgeries than before the pandemic.

But also, in the emergency department, there is often a wait. In September, 32,776 Britons had to wait more than 12 hours before deciding their admission.
