Russia Decides on Withdrawal from ISS Project After Inspection

After a technical inspection of the International Space Station, Russia will decide whether to withdraw from that project.

This is reported by the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, who, according to news agency TASS, noted that the station’s condition “leaves a lot to be desired”.

The ISS has been inhabited continuously for about 20 years and, according to Russia, there are more and more reports about technical problems.

Borisov says an inspection is needed for security reasons. He promises international partners will be informed if his country decides to withdraw from 2025.

Russia is cooperating in the ISS project with Western countries, including the United States. The space station was expected to be decommissioned before the end of this decade.

Russia’s involvement in the project was discussed at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin on April 12, writes TASS.
