The British Queen Elizabeth expressed her admiration for the traditional news media on Monday.
In a message to journalists, the head of state said the media provided an essential public service during the corona pandemic.
The Queen sent the message to members of the British News Media Association, which includes newspapers The Guardian, The Sun and Daily Mail.
“The pandemic has once again shown the important public service the established news media provide, both nationally and regionally,” she writes.
In her post, she emphasizes the vital importance of trusted and reliable sources of information, “especially at a time when there are so many sources competing for our attention.”
It is extraordinary that Queen Elizabeth expresses herself in this way.
According to unwritten laws, the Queen does not speak out on political issues. The decision to send a public statement of support suggests that she considers the topic uncontroversial.
