On June 2, fans of EastEnders will be surprised: Prince Charles and his wife Camilla will also be featured in a special episode.
The soap opera EastEnders is a British icon and so is Prince Charles, of course. The pair will now also participate in the British series that has been on television since 1985. They were filmed while visiting a fictional street party in March, the BBC has reported.
The episode will air on June 2 as a jubilee episode for the 50th anniversary of the Queen’s enthronement.
According to actress Kellie Bright, the princely couple did an excellent job on the set. “I just thought, Wow, they’ve never done anything like this before. It must have been totally out of their comfort zone, they didn’t know what to expect.”
According to royalty warden Jenny Bond, it is not known what the couple will say next. “That’s a well-kept secret, but I don’t think they had to study a lot of text. In the end, they just go as themselves and do what they will have to do a lot in the coming months: go to anniversary parties.”
