Russia has also approved its corona vaccine Sputnik V for people over 60 years old. The Ministry of Health announced this on Saturday, various Russian news agencies report.
People over 60 have so far been excluded from the national vaccination program because the vaccine had to be tested separately for this age group.
“The Ministry of Health approves changes to the instructions for medical use. The vaccine can now be administered to persons aged 18 and over.
Citizens over 60 can now also be vaccinated against the coronavirus,” said Health Minister. Mikhail Marshko to the TV channel Rossiya-24.
Russia began to vaccinate with Sputnik V on December 5.
The drug was rapidly admitted to the Russian market, while research into safety and efficacy was still ongoing. According to the developers, it is very effective and safe.
