Ukrainian foreign minister Dmitro Kuleba and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov have gathered in the Turkish resort of Antalya in the company of Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine last month, there has been no contact at this high level between the belligerent countries.
There have been three rounds of talks in Belarus between delegations from both countries.
The Turkish host hopes for “a turning point” in the battle and “an important step towards peace”. Koeleba said he didn’t expect much from it.
The meeting is on the eve of a multi-day conference called the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
