Germany sees more and more Ukrainian refugees entering the country. As of Feb. 24, nearly 175,000 have been registered, the Interior Ministry said.
This only concerns the people the police encounter at, for example, border controls and trains.
The German authorities believe that the actual number of refugees is considerably higher. Moreover, there are no fixed border controls within the European Union, for which Ukrainians also do not need a visa.
As a result, Germany does not have precise figures of how many refugees are in the country and how many continue through Germany to other countries.
