Musk Sees Twitter Purchase as Stepping Stone to an Everything App
Elon Musk sees the purchase of Twitter as a step toward an ‘everything app’. This is apparent from a tweet from the Tesla CEO, who now wants to continue with the takeover of the messaging service.
An ‘everything app’ is an app that bundles several services. An example is the Chinese WeChat, which combines chatting, shopping and gaming.
In addition, WeChat has its own payment system and can be used to order taxis or meals, for example. More than a billion Chinese use the app every day.
Facebook mother Meta has attempted to turn Facebook or Instagram into such an app, but they never succeeded. In a tweet, Musk said the purchase of Twitter is “an accelerator to develop X, the everything app.”
He gave no further details. Musk has not hidden his admiration for WeChat in the past.
