The global death toll from the coronavirus outbreak has passed 375,000. This is evident from figures from the American Johns Hopkins University, which is based on data from official bodies.

More than 6.2 million people have been infected. The actual number of corona infections is thought to be much higher because not all people are tested with the virus.

The United States is by far the hardest-hit country. There are 1.85 million corona infections and more than 105,000 deaths.

Brazil follows, with over 526,000 infections and nearly 30,000 virus deaths.

Italy is the worst affected country in Europe with over 33,000 deaths. Most European infections are in Great Britain: over 277,000.

Figures supplied by countries about the numbers of deaths and infections are often difficult to compare. Not all of them are created in the same way.
