Microsoft-Governments Must Wake Up after Cyber Attacks. Governments must be woken up by the international ransomware attack. That’s writing Microsoft.

The company believes that there must be a worldwide treaty to protect citizens from cyber crime, a “Geneva Convention.”

Microsoft responds to the ransomware WannaCrypt, which has dumped companies and people around the world in recent days. The perpetrators used a vulnerability in Windows.

The weakness was found by the US secret service NSA, who held it afterward. The knowledge was stolen and recently brought out by the anonymous hackers group Shadow Brokers.

Microsoft sent a patch (repair), but not all companies and consumers have those installed.

Microsoft believes that in cyberspace the same rules should apply to true weapons. “Suppose some American-style Tomahawk missiles are stolen,” said the company.
