Major Tech Companies Donate for Biden’s Inauguration
Big tech companies like Google mother Alphabet and Microsoft have donated at least $ 200 for the new US president Joe Biden.
The names of the companies are on the list of nearly a thousand donors, the committee organizing the inauguration reports.
The committee did not report the amount of donations. Further details are also missing. Other companies on the list include chipmaker Qualcomm, cable providers Comcast and Charter Communications, aircraft maker Boeing and insurer Anthem.
The Inauguration Committee also announced that unions such as the American Federation of Teachers and the United Food and Commercial Workers have contributed. Notable individuals such as California Senator Barbara Boxerof and singer Barbra Streisand are also on the list.
Due to the corona pandemic, the new president’s inauguration will already be more austere than is usually the case. Stringent safety standards will be applied. This is because of the Capitol’s recent storming by Trump supporters, which left five dead, including a police officer.
President Donald Trump previously indicated that he would not be present at the inauguration. Vice President Mike Pence is. Biden and his vice president Kamala Harris previously called on Americans to stay at home on Jan. 20.
The traditional mass rally on the National Mall has already been dropped, and the parade after the inauguration from the Capitol to the White House is being reconsidered.
