Gunman Opens Fire at Doctor New York Hospital- 1 Dead 6 Injured. At a shooting in a hospital in New York, 1 dead and 6 others were injured. The shooter, a recently fired doctor, has killed himself, reports the New York police.
The shooting took place around three o’clock on Friday afternoon (local time) at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital. The shooter, Henry Bello, wore a white doctor’s coat. Underneath he had hidden an automatic gun.
According to the New York Times, among the injured patients, there are three doctors. It took some time before emergency workers could enter the hospital because the shooter was not found yet.
Visitors and patients were told that they had to hide, while agents climbed the hospital. Bello was found dead on a higher level.
It is not known why Bello’s employment was not extended. The Bronx Lebanon Hospital is by itself the largest non-profit hospital in the Bronx district.
It is 120 years old and has a small thousand beds. The emergency department is one of the busiest in New York City.
