Google Faces Antitrust Investigation by 50 US States. Internet giant Google is already being examined in fifty American states in a large-scale cartel investigation.

That was formally announced by the Attorney General of the State of Texas, who is leading the investigation. Rumors about such an investigation were already circulating.

The states are examining the impact of Google’s commanding position on the digital advertising market. They also look at whether it is harmful to consumers that one company has so much information about consumers.

Attorney General Ken Paxton of Texas said that Google “dominates all aspects of internet advertising and searching”. He did emphasise that there is no question of a lawsuit. “It is an investigation to determine the facts,” he said.

The announcement comes a few days after the Federal Ministry of Justice has indicated that it is also investigating cartel formation by Google.
