The Russian security service FSB says it has identified a second suspect in the investigation into the murder of Daria Dugina, the daughter of ultra-nationalist ideologue Aleksandr Dugin.
The Russian state news agency TASS reported this suspect also has Ukrainian nationality.
The man is said to have contributed to the preparations for the bomb attack. According to TASS, he arrived in Russia at the end of July and is said to have left the country before the murder. The Ukrainians would have traveled via Estonia on both the outward and return journey. Ukraine has repeatedly denied involvement in Dugina’s death.
The 29-year-old journalist died on August 20 while driving home. Her car exploded due to a bomb attached to the vehicle. Two days later, the FSB blamed the Ukrainian secret service. A secret agent was said to have followed Dugina and detonated the bomb remotely. This Ukrainian woman is said to have left for Estonia after the attack.
Dugina, like her father, was a supporter of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. At a memorial ceremony, Dugin stated that his daughter “died for the people, for Russia, at the front.” He has been described as the “brain” of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin described the bombing as a “despicable, cruel crime.”
