Five apartment buildings in London are evacuated because they are covered with the same fire hazardous facade as the Grenfell Tower, where a massive fire came 79 people around two weeks ago.
It’s about one complex of five flats, where all together are about 800 apartments, reports the BBC and Hope News. So, about 2000 people have to be searched for another shelter.
Yesterday the management of the apartment building already announced that the plates would be replaced as soon as possible, but this evening it was decided to clear the flats as quickly as possible.
All day after the fatal fire, attention was given to the façade plates as the main cause of which the fire could expand so rapidly.
This was confirmed by the fire department today, after which the management of the complex will no longer waste time. When the building is empty, it is not known yet.
In total, there are now 14 flats in Great Britain in which these or similar facade plates would be used.
