One of the crew members of the military ship that capsized in the Gulf of Thailand was found alive in the sea on Tuesday by the rescue services.
A commander of the Thai navy announced this.
“We found someone. He is in good health,” says Pichai Lorchusakul. Earlier, 75 of the 105 people on board could be rescued. However, 29 people are still missing.
The HTMS Sukhothai sank in the Gulf of Thailand on Sunday night. The accident occurred 37 kilometres off the Thai coast, near the Bang Saphan district.
The strong tide would have damaged the patrol vessel’s electrical system, causing the ship’s machinery to shut down.
