Climate activists disrupted the German car brand Porsche’s annual general meeting in Stuttgart on Wednesday. During CEO Oliver Blume’s speech, a woman stood up and shouted, among other things, “dirty dividends”.
She also held up a banner that read “expropriated Nazi heritage”. The woman was removed from the room shortly afterwards by a security guard.
Activists from the environmental group Letzten Generation also stood outside the building. They tried to block a driveway to the meeting. An activist reportedly glued herself to a Porsche sports car and smeared the car with red paint. The woman also showed her bare breasts for no apparent reason.
According to the activists, they are protesting against luxury cars, which they see as associated with global exploitation and destruction. The demonstrators also complain about Porsche’s profits and founder Ferdinand Porsche’s role in National Socialism.
It is known that Ferdinand Porsche, the designer of the first model of the brand, received subsidies from Adolf Hitler in the 1930s. During World War II, Porsche and several German car manufacturers built military vehicles for the Nazis. Forced labourers were also used during this period.
At the beginning of May, there were also protests at the general meeting of the Volkswagen group.
