Bug in Zoom: Mac Microphones Stayed On After Call

For a while, a bug in Zoom caused the microphones of Mac computers to remain on after a virtual meeting. The error has since been fixed with an update.

After finishing a Zoom call, users noticed a macOS privacy feature left their microphone on. This was indicated by an orange dot that appears in the menu bar of Apple’s operating system.

Zoom confirms the existence of the bug. The company reports that the error caused the orange dot in the menu bar to remain visible even after a call.

Whether the microphone actually remained switched on, a company spokesperson said in a comment. The issue has been resolved in version 5.9.3 of the macOS client.
