Britain has demanded the immediate release of Belarusian journalist and opposition member Roman Protasevich.

He was arrested at Minsk airport on Sunday on “the basis of a ruse,” said British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab.

The United Kingdom condemns the actions of the Belarusian authorities on Sunday, who arrested journalist Roman Protasevich based on a ruse after they forced his Ryanair flight to land in Minsk.

President Aleksandr Lukashenko should be held accountable for our outrageous actions,” says Raab.

He added that London is working with allies on more sanctions against Belarus and President Lukashenko. Ryanair’s flight with Protasevich on board went from Greece to Lithuania.
