US President Joe Biden has reached an agreement on a huge package of 559 billion dollars in investments in the often outdated infrastructure.
He closed the deal with a Senate representative during a round of negotiations in the White House. The investments are good for millions of American jobs, Biden tweeted.
The White House and Congress (Congress) have been discussing the package for months, and it’s not over. It is not yet clear where all the money will go. However, it is clear that it could become the largest financial injection in roads, bridges, and ports in decades.
Democratic Congressmen further stressed that the investment plan should be coupled with other bids from the Biden administration, such as better childcare and the fight against climate change.
The rival Republicans are vehemently against this. They want the money to be used only for things like roads, airports and faster internet.
