Apple is Working on A Subscription Service for iPhone and Other Gadgets
Apple is reportedly working on a subscription service for gadgets like the iPhone. Instead of paying hundreds of euros once for a new smartphone or tablet, you could probably pay for it monthly.
The American technology group is expected to start with the new service at the end of this year, reports Bloomberg news agency on the authority of sources.
For its music service Apple Music and cloud service iCloud, Apple has been working with monthly subscriptions for some time. This new service would resemble that, comparable to leasing a car. That way, Apple could generate more sales. Consumers, in turn, have the advantage that they have to pay less money in one go for a new device.
Apple has been working on the project for several months, with discussions also about allowing customers to switch devices as soon as a new version comes out. This usually happens every year for the iPhone and iPad.
