Amazon has announced its own gaming service. It would be a cloud gaming service in the genre of Microsoft xCloud and Google Stadia, where you take out a subscription to the game on your TV or computer, while the games themselves are run in the cloud.

Luna will work on PC, Mac, smartphones and Amazon’s own Fire TV. The games are of course hosted on AWS, Amazon’s cloud hosting.

The company promises from the start streams in a resolution of 1080p, at sixty frames per second. Support for 4K should follow later.

Less is known about the games. Control, Resident Evil 7, GRID, Yooka-Laylee and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, among others, should be available in the testing phase, but none of those games can be called new.

Later, the new Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla should also follow, which will be released later this year.
