Thousands of Chinese Children Vaccinated with Faulty Vaccines. The Chinese pharmaceutical company Changsheng Biotechnology is the centre of a major scandal in its own country.
The company is suspected of having brought non-working vaccines on the Chinese market.
According to Chinese state media, 256,000 newborns received no- or poorly-working vaccinations. This would be vaccinations against diseases such as rabies, tetanus, whooping cough and diphtheria.
Changsheng Biotechnology would have the falsified inspection and production reports. The vaccines, therefore, do not meet the strict health requirements.
The police detained six Changsheng employees for questioning. Several investigations are now running against the manufacturer.
According to Chinese President Xi Jinping, the fraudsters must be severely punished. Xi has announced a thorough investigation. He emphasises that public health must always come first.
