A man was killed and fifteen people were injured in a collision between two passenger trains in Wales on Monday evening, traffic police announced on Tuesday.

The accident between the two trains happened at low speed near the village of Llanbrynmair, in central Wales.

“Sadly we can confirm that a man has died as a result of the accident,” said Commissioner Andrew Morgan, a senior officer with British Transport Police.

The people taken to the hospital do not appear to have suffered any serious injuries. In total, 15 passengers were taken to various hospitals. None of them are said to be in a life-threatening condition.
