Black Widow Film Hits Pandemic Record With $80 Million
The film Black Widow has attracted many visitors to the cinemas at its opening weekend. In the United States and Canada, the $80 million Marvel film marked the best opening weekend for a film since the start of the corona crisis.
The rest of the world earned another $78 million. That’s a good sign for the cinemas. The sector has been struggling since the start of the corona pandemic.
Disney, the owner of Marvel, says that during the opening weekend of Black Widow, an additional $60 million was raised because fans preferred to watch the film at home. This can be done via streaming service Disney+ for an additional fee of $30.
The film starring Scarlett Johansson is part of the so-called Marvel Cinematic Universe, which also includes films with other superheroes such as Iron Man, Thor and Captain America.
