The French security forces arrested 97 people in Paris on Saturday and issued 513 fines as part of the “freedom convoys” protesting the corona measures. This is apparent from the final balance published by the police on Sunday morning.
According to the prosecutor’s office, 81 people were still in custody at 6 am on Sunday, including Jérôme Rodrigues, one of the faces of the yellow vests, who also expressed himself in recent days as an ally of the activists. He is charged with “organizing a prohibited demonstration and participating in a group that wants to commit violence”.
The police remain on standby to prevent protesters from blocking Paris on Sunday. When the convoys may reach Brussels, 7,000 troops are ready to intervene in and around the French capital until tomorrow.
Saturday night, the last participants in the action were thrown on the receipt. Hundreds of protesters spent the night in their campers and have left for Brussels around 10 am. But according to a French police source, not all participants in the action in Paris would drive to Belgium.
