Rome Police Seize Eight Casamonica Family Mafia villas
Rome Police Seize Eight Casamonica Family Mafia villas. The Italian police seized on Tuesday in Rome eight luxury villas that were illegally built by members of the mafia.
Mayor Virginia Raggi of Rome said the Casamonica family owned the villas. The houses will be demolished at the end of this year.
Raggi said that some villas were built on sites of archaeological interest. The Casamonica clan has been associated with crime in the southeastern neighbourhoods of Rome for years.
In July, the Italian police held more than 30 people suspected of involvement in the Mafia plan.
In that action, the police attacked in gaudy buildings that included marble statues of animals and extravagant furniture.
