Recovering Pope Gradually Picks Up Work Again

Pope Francis, who is recovering from an operation, is gradually returning to his duties. On Saturday, the Vatican reported that the Pope is walking, eating with his associates and that his blood tests are satisfactory.

The 84-year-old Pope has been walking without help since Friday and is eating normally. In the night from Wednesday to Thursday, he still had a fever, but that too had disappeared a day later. He will attend Mass from the hospital on Sunday.

Last weekend, the Church Father underwent scheduled surgery at the surgical faculty of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome. Several popes have been treated here in the past.

Francis has the bowel disease diverticulitis, which is common in the elderly and can lead to pain and fever. In addition, the condition leads to protrusions in the intestinal wall that can become inflamed.
