Number of Omicron Cases Rises to Almost 1500
Nearly 1,500 people in the world have contracted the Omicron variant of the coronavirus anyway. The virus version has been diagnosed in 1,458 people from 55 countries, but the actual number of infections may be significantly higher.
All people had mild symptoms or no symptoms at all. As far as is known, no one has yet died from the Omicron variant.
The United Kingdom leads the list with 437 cases, followed by South Africa with 360. According to the European Health Service, the Omicron variant has been found in 337 inhabitants of the European Union and the European Economic Area.
Denmark is the leader there with 83 confirmed infections, followed by Portugal (37), the Netherlands (36), France (32) and Norway (29).
Among the 55 countries where the variant has surfaced are the United States, Russia, Australia, Brazil, India, Japan, Israel, Nepal and Saudi Arabia. In addition, since Tuesday’s overview, Estonia, Liechtenstein, and Uganda have discovered their first cases.
