Meta is appointing the CEO of payment service Stripe and a former Trump security adviser to its new board of directors.
Starting April 15, Patrick Collison, CEO of online payment service Stripe, and Dina Powell McCormick will join the board of directors. During his first presidential term, Powell McCormick was Donald Trump’s deputy national security advisor. She also served as a senior adviser in the White House under George W. Bush. She is vice chair, president and head of Global Client Services at the American investment bank BDT & MSD Partners.
With the reshuffle, Meta’s board of directors now numbers 15 people. Other prominent members include investor/entrepreneur Marc Andreessen, Drew Houston (Dropbox), Hock E. Tan (Broadcom), and Tony Xu (DoorDash).
The company behind Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram previously hired Dana White, CEO of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and a close friend of Trump. In recent months, her head of global affairs was also replaced by Republican Joel Kaplan.
“Patrick and Dina have a wealth of experience supporting businesses and entrepreneurs. Patrick is dedicated to expanding economic activity. Dina has had a long career advocating for economic development and supporting entrepreneurs. Their perspective will be incredibly valuable to businesses that rely on our services to grow,” said Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
