Car Hits School Building in Wimbledon: Young Girl Killed

On Thursday, a car rammed into a primary school building in London’s Wimbledon district. A child, a young girl, was killed, reports SkyNews.

 

The affected building is a girls’ school for children between 4 and 11. Seven children and two adults were injured in the incident. The news was also announced on Thursday afternoon that one child was killed.

“This is tragic news, and our thoughts go out to the girl’s family, friends, and everyone involved today. We remain on scene and continue our investigation into the full circumstances of the incident,” said Chief Constable Clair Kelland.

It is unclear what happened or whether it was a deliberate act. The facts have nothing to do with terrorism, according to the police. It has launched an investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident. The driver, a woman in her 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving.

The collision occurred about a mile from where the Wimbledon tennis tournament is currently held.
