The Russians have expanded their offensive in eastern Ukraine. Russian attacks on the large city of Donetsk have recently increased, as the British Ministry of Defense notes in its daily assessment of the course of the Russian invasion of neighboring Ukraine.
Heavy fighting is retaking place at the destroyed Donetsk airport. The Russians probably want to provoke more Ukrainian troops on the Eastern Front with their new attacks. They cannot then be moved to the south, where Ukraine wants to liberate the city of Kherson.
This makes a Ukrainian counter-offensive more difficult, according to the defense ministry, which relies on secret services.
