Afghanistan will need $5 billion in emergency aid next year, the United Nations says. The aid is needed to prevent a humanitarian disaster.
The majority of the money, 4.4 billion, would be spent on people within Afghanistan.
Another $623 million would provide emergency aid to the 5.7 million Afghans sheltered in neighbouring countries.
