TikTok is Available Again in Apple and Google App Stores in United States

On Thursday, TikTok is back in the Apple and Google app stores in the United States. The video app has been unavailable for new users to download since January 19.

Under a law signed by former US President Joe Biden, ByteDance, the Chinese parent company of TikTok, was required to divest the US portions of the video app by January 19. Otherwise, the popular app would no longer be available in the United States.

Ultimately, TikTok itself pulled the plug on the app for its 170 million US users just hours before the deadline. They could no longer scroll on either the app or the website and lost access to the profiles and videos they had saved as favourites.

On his first day as 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump granted TikTok an extension, keeping the app operational for an additional 75 days, until April 5. On Thursday, President Trump suggested he could extend the deadline again.
