More Than 20 Deaths from Cyclone in India

More than 20 people have died in northwestern India as a result of Cyclone Tauktae. As a precaution, 200,000 people living along the coast were evacuated.

 

The navy came to rescue a ship in distress and rescued 177 people off the coast of Mumbai, but the ship had 273 people on board, and the rest are still missing.

In total, 127 people have been reported missing due to the severe weather, Indian authorities said.

The precipitation and the storm with wind speeds of up to 185 kilometres per hour have caused a lot of flooding in the state of Gujarat. There is also a lot of storm damage to buildings.

The cyclone was the worst in at least twenty years for this area.
