Pharmaceutical Moderna is supplying 500 million doses of its corona vaccine to Covax, an international program that makes vaccines available to poorer countries.

34 million doses are expected to be delivered in the last quarter of this year, reports international organization and co-initiator Gavi.

The other 466 million doses will follow in 2022. Moderna says it will offer the vaccine at the lowest price but does not provide further details about the agreement. The company is not the only pharmaceutical company with agreements with Covax.

Through this initiative, 49 million doses of corona vaccines have been delivered to more than 100 countries since February, mainly those of AstraZeneca.

The Moderna vaccine was approved for emergency use Friday by the World Health Organization (WHO), which is also involved with Covax. The drug was previously approved by authorities in the European Union and the United States, among others.
