Microsoft is Still Benefiting From Home Work in the Fourth Quarter

The software company Microsoft also benefited from growth in its cloud services in the fourth quarter of its broken fiscal year.

Both in the business field, where companies had to make working from home possible, and in the consumer branch, the demand for those services increased during the corona crisis.

The department that makes the Xbox also did well because people spent more time at home in April through June.

The increase in cloud services was offset by a decline in sales of classic software package licenses. The professional social network LinkedIn suffered from the weak labour market and less expenditure on advertisements.

Sales at the Xbox branch were 65 percent higher. Microsoft’s revenue was 13 percent higher at $ 38 billion. Under the line, $ 11.2 billion remained. That meant a decrease of 15 percent compared to the same period last year.

However, this quarter Microsoft posted a one-time expense of $ 450 million to close it’s brick and mortar stores, while last year published a $ 2.6 billion tax benefit in the same period.
