An armed man was arrested on Christmas morning who entered the grounds of Windsor Castle. The British Royal Family has been informed of the incident.
British media report based on the police that a 19-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested for carrying a weapon and for trespassing on trespassing. The arrest was made around 8:30 a.m. UK time.
Queen Elizabeth is currently staying at Windsor Castle to celebrate Christmas. Prince Charles, his wife Camilla and Prince Edward and his family, and others, she is accompanied there.
The suspect did not enter a building, police said. However, an investigation has been launched into the incident. “We can confirm that moments after the man entered the site, security procedures were initiated, and he did not enter any buildings,” the statement read.
Police said there was no other threat to the area.
