The American hotel magnate founder Barron Hilton died yesterday at the age of 91. That announced his own Hilton Foundation today. He developed the world-famous Hilton hotel chain, founded by his father, Conrad.

 

Barron Hilton died a natural death in his home in Los Angeles.

The hotel chain became one of the largest private business organisations in the world. Barron Hilton joined the Giving Pledge in 2007, an initiative to encourage wealthy people to spend much of their money on charities.

Multi-billionaires such as Bill Gates from Microsoft and investor Warren Buffett are also included.

Barron Hilton is said to have given away no less than 97 percent of his assets, making him one of the major donors.

Hilton was born in Dallas. In his spare time, he loved hunting and fishing, and he liked to be a pilot. Barron Hilton has eight children, fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He already lost his wife, Marilyn in 2004.
